1950, the Corps of Engineers sent a letter to the Tribal Council condemning
8,298 acres of Lower Brule land. This
was for the Fort Randall reservoir. As soon as this issue had been resolved, the Corps
of Engineers again condemned 23,465 acres of land for the Big Bend Dam.
