Prairie-chicken / Sharp-tailed grouse

2012 Hunting Forecast will be posted in early August.
2011 Hunting Forecast:
Spring lek counts showed similar numbers of prairie-chickens and sharp-
tailed grouse on the breeding grounds. Summer brood counts are not
feasible for prairie grouse but based on excellent precipitation and cover,
there should have been good nesting success and brood survival. Hunting
populations will probably be similar to last year which was an above
average year for prairie grouse. Due to good grass conditions, even in
grazed range units, grouse will probably be spread out over large areas.
